What the Heck is Metaphysical Advising, Anyway?

Back in 1999, when I began my metaphysical path in earnest (after having studied it at length), I wished desperately for a mentor. I wanted to find someone who knew more about magic and Paganism than I did who could show me the ropes. Instead, I muddled through with the help of the limited number of books that had been published at that time and with a handful of other college women who were just as ignorant as I was.

To this day, I have never found a mentor. Over the years, I thought that three different women could be that for me. One turned out to be in a cult and belittled me when I told her that I wasn't impressed by her cult leader. One believed in things that were too fantastical even for me (which is saying a lot), and peddled misinformation and dangerous "cures" in the guise of healing. One appeared to be a spiritual person but was actually just in it for the money; she used my trust to exploit my labor for her own profit. I have accepted that I won't ever get a true mentor relationship in this lifetime. I've dodged a few bullets by not letting myself get roped into cults and cons, but it's still disappointing.

Now I'm doing what I can to prevent other people from feeling that same disappointment. I also want to provide a safe space for people who are interested in anything woo to be themselves without falling victim to cults and scammers. My number one goal is always to empower people to do their own woo.

Before I answer the question of what metaphysical advising is, I'm going to tell you a little about what it isn't. I don't break or cast curses, cast spells, remove ghosts, channel spirits, predict the future, or tell you what to believe. If I feel that I can't help you, I will not charge you for your session. I will not scare you into believing that there's something wrong with you that only I can fix. I won't charge you more than my hourly rate ever.

What I will do is help you to figure out how to do the things that you want or need to do. I can help you to learn metaphysical skills. I can help you to interpret your tarot readings. I will give you insight into what's going on with you spiritually, and if needed, I will suggest things that you can do to fix problems. I don't want to balance your chakras; I want you to feel confident that you know how to balance your chakras. I will help you to listen to your own intuition. I can help you to contact your guides. I will relay any messages I get from The Universe to you.

Metaphysical advising sessions don't have a specific format. I do whatever I feel moved to do based on what you need. I might pull some tarot cards for you. I may lead you in a guided meditation. I may walk you through the steps of how to do something like shielding or healing. I may let you talk at length while letting my guides inspire me. I might give you suggestions on how to cast a spell. If you're in a situation where what you need is beyond your skills, I will do my best to fix it or refer you to someone who can. I truly won't know what's going to happen until we're sitting in our session.

I don't require anything other than an open mind. I work with people of any belief system (or lack thereof) and do my best to use language that resonates with them.
